During the middle ages clothes showed how wealthy people were. Peasants wore tunics made of rough wool and linen. Their clothes were rarely washed because they were so poor and always working. They also wore certain color because they were poor such as brown, gray, and red. Nobles wore expensive fabrics and clothing such as silk, fur, and velvet. They always liked to wear very bright colors and jewelry. Knights always wore armor, which was basically heavy metal. Their armor consisted of helmets, swords, and shields. Clergy wore different outfits depending on who they were.
The bishop always wore long garments and always had lavish jewelry on. Priest mostly wore gowns according to the holiday and time. Monks wore wool gowns with hoods attached to them, which was very bland clothing to wear because they part of the Catholic Church. Nuns also wore very bland clothing. They wore gowns that consisted of the colors black, gray, and white. Nuns wore a covering over their heads called a wimple because most of their heads were shaved.
